The Center for Construction Research and Training and TeleMundo partnered to introduce construction safety concepts through telenovelas, or Spanish language soap operas. Because safety information is often presented in English, the Mi Trabajo Seguro project is meant to cross the language barrier which contributes to the trend of native Spanish speakers being at a disproportionately high risk for worksite accidents. We developed a website that explains the purpose of the Mi Trabajo Seguro project, features a printable informational sheet for interested viewers, and offers a training piece that reinforces the safety message of the telenovela episode. We were able to complete this project under a very quick turnaround requirement that coincide with the release of the first episode of the series, which focuses on ladder safety.
