We worked with the Center for Construction Research and Training to create a database that can be used to systematically address the hazards associated with all aspects of construction work. To this end, we created a customized interface that occupational health specialists can use to develop detailed analyses of work hazards, which are then associated with solutions that can reduce or eliminate those hazards. Workers and contractors use a different interface to identify their type of work, hazards of interest, and the analyses and solutions related to them. This project is the result of seven years of cooperative work with the Center under funding from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and we are happy to have contributed to such a longstanding safety effort.
