National Ag Safety Database

When we released NASD to the web in 1997, it was the largest online database of agricultural health and safety documents in the world, and it still is today. This ambitious project was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and it gave us the opportunity to work in cooperation with the University of Florida. We custom built a back-end Content Management System (CMS) to manage NASD’s huge collection of information collected from agricultural professionals and organizations nationwide. Agriculture is one of the most hazardous occupations in the United States, and we like knowing that this important database has a role in promoting agricultural safety and health.
